On April 6, 1917--with the lives of 1,600 fellow soldiers hanging by a thread--the best friends and British Army Lance Corporals, Tom Blake and Will Schofield, undertake a peril-laden mission to hand-deliver an urgent, life-saving message to Colonel MacKenzie's Second Battalion of the Devonshire line infantry regiment. With this in mind, amid the horrors of an uncannily silent no man's land, the young brothers-in-arms must traverse nine long miles of hostile enemy terrain in the French countryside, to reach the 2nd Devons in time and call off the imminent attack. Now, two ordinary troopers walk into certain death. What makes a true hero?

1917 netflix. Now the SJWs are triggered by The History. Hi warrior poet. Being an amateur WWII historian (1920s to 1950s) I want to express how our youth does not know about the big wars and the people who fought them. The schools generally gloss over these periods and dont understand the totality encompassing these periods. please everyone press your kids to learn about these times in our history. We dont want to repeat them. They really dont know.

1917 2019. So rare nowadays to watch a movie that has good actors and a good script. Sometimes I think that one out of ten movies is worth watching. 1917 is really really good and. Highly recommend watching it, thank me later. I really think they should get out of the way left or right instead of going towards the way the plane is going to crash. I really don't know why Wittlesey is declared as a hero. Ok, he and his men fought very bravely but at one point he got the offer to surrender from the Germans and was so able to stop the slaughter - but he refused! He and his men were just lucky not to be further decimated. Anyway, good movie, but the very passive acting of the German soldiers in this movie is more than often somehow ridiculous. Terrible.
* Spoilers*
It's a beautiful visual experience but with a predictable screenplay. Germans are the bad guys the main character save the day. I wanted something different.

1917 cuts. If you have seen Saving Private Ryan and practically any other war movie you will recognize all of these tropes:
" No Good Deed Goes Unpunished. after saving the life of an enemy combatant
"Language Barrier Encounter with a Female. however she just happens to know enough English to convey her love
"The Combat Fatigued Soldier. snivelling and crying, unable to lead men over the wall into battle
"Horrible Marksmanship by the Enemy" and its cousin "Pinpoint Marksmanship by the Hero"
"Gunshot Nicks and Grazes to the Hero Does Not Stop Him"
I could go on. but you get the point.
Maybe I am too old and having seen nearly war movie, they are all starting to look the same.

Download Movie Saint Maud One of the movie streaming industrys largest impacts has been on the DVD industry, which effectively met its demise with the mass popularization of online content. The rise of media streaming has caused the downfall of many DVD rental companies such as Blockbuster. In July 2015 an article from the New York Times published an article about Netflixs DVD services. It stated that Netflix is continuing their DVD services with 5. 3 million subscribers, which is a significant drop from the previous year. On the other hand, their streaming services have 65 million members. In a March 2016 study assessing the “Impact of Movie Streaming over traditional DVD Movie Rental” it was found that respondents do not purchase DVD movies nearly as much anymore, if ever, as streaming has taken over the market. Watch Movie Saint Maud, viewers did not find movie quality to be significantly different between DVD and online streaming. Issues that respondents believed needed improvement with movie streaming included functions of fast forwarding or rewinding, as well as search functions. The article highlights that the quality of movie streaming as an industry will only increase in time, as advertising revenue continues to soar on a yearly basis throughout the industry, providing incentive for quality content production.? Saint maudez. A24 has released the first trailer for Rose Glass upcoming horror film, Saint Maud. The story follows Maud ( Morfydd Clark) a hospice nurse obsessed with salvation for her dying patients soul. However, the lengths shell go to save that soul take her on a dark and twisted path. I wasnt aware of this movie until I saw the trailer, but now it has my attention. A24 knows how to put some truly brilliant horror pictures into the world, and even if they dont all work for me (see the works of Ari Aster) I like that theyre doing something different than typical slasher fare or trying to rely on franchises. Sure, Saint Maud may not make 100 million at the box office, but thats not the only metric of success. However, I am curious if there could be any religious organization backlash brewing, or if that kind of thing is a relic of past culture wars. A24 also doesnt seem like the kind of studio that courts controversy as a marketing strategy, so things may just stay quiet on that front. But as someone whos fascinated by stories of faith. Saint Maud seems very much my jam. Check out the Saint Maud trailer below. The film arrives spring 2020 and also stars Jennifer Ehle, Lilly Frazer, Lily Knight, Marcus Hutton, Turlough Convery, and Rosie Sansom. Heres the official synopsis for Saint Maud: The debut film from writer-director Rose Glass, Saint Maud is a chilling and boldly original vision of faith, madness, and salvation in a fallen world. Maud, a newly devout hospice nurse, becomes obsessed with saving her dying patients soul — but sinister forces, and her own sinful past, threaten to put an end to her holy calling.

Saint madeleine catholic church. Saint mande 94160. TORONTO 2019 Midnight Madness by 18/09/2019 - Debuting writer-director Rose Glass has crafted a perfect Midnight Madness film with a social message about the health service Morfydd Clark in Saint Maud The opening scene of Rose Glass s Saint Maud. see also: trailer interview: Rose Glass film profile] shows blood dripping, a hospital operation gone wrong and beetles scurrying along the ceiling. It's an unnerving start to a gripping watch. After that, the story follows a religious girl struggling with her existence. She hears the voice of God and believes that salvation is possible through helping others; perhaps that's why she became a nurse in the first place. In many ways, this is the perfect film to play Midnight Madness at the Toronto International Film Festival, before returning across the Atlantic to a Competition slot at the London Film Festival. It's a film that wants to tackle big subjects, and no topic is safe from discussion. One of the first things that we learn about Maud is that she is on her period. Rising star Morfydd Clark delivers a remarkable performance as the eponymous character. Her Maud seems both vulnerable and capable of committing the most heinous of acts. Is she an angel or a devil? In her own mind, she's clearly the former: a recent convert to Christianity, she orders a Mary Magdalene necklace online. She talks to God, rather than writing Facebook posts. She's a woman, and this is a film, seemingly born in another era. The influence of Ingmar Bergman's  Persona, with which it shares certain plot points, looms large. Maud is a nurse who takes a job looking after incapacitated choreographer Amanda (BAFTA and Tony Award winner Jennifer Ehle) who somewhat eerily lives in a house atop a Dublin hill. The set-up is complete: we have a nurse, a patient and a secluded home. Amanda is an equally ambivalent character. She pays women and men for sex, almost believing that she can no longer be loved. Her illness has diminished her allure. Her incapacitated state is a source of frustration, but it also allows her to treat Maud disdainfully; her behaviour verges on bullying. She employs Maud, and so seems to think she has total power over her. Amanda is a great character because it's easy to feel sorry for her and not see her abusive flaws. While much of the action takes place in the house, one of the critical moments in  Saint Maud comes when Maud is in a pub. She cuts a lonely figure. She calls an acquaintance, who can't meet her. Maud's reaction is to search for human contact – any contact – and this makes her fall prey to chancers. Saint Maud is excellent in these moments when we get inside Maud's head and sense her rationale for self-destructive behaviour. Such elements also make Maud an unreliable narrator: is what we see real or a figment of her imagination? Maud also casts judgement on Amanda, telling her friend and sexual partner Carol ( Lily Fraser) not to see her again. Is Maud the abusive one? What is real? The questions are like being set an exam on Roman Polanski's Repulsion or Rosemary's Baby. An encounter with Joy ( Lily Knight) who worked with Maud at the time of the opening scene, gives further food for thought. Writer-director Glass delivers on so many levels that it's hard to believe this is her debut. Saint Maud is an insight into a very modern, very lonely, existence that is sadly only too recognisable. The story haunts us long after the end credits roll, especially the two excellent performances from the leads. Saint Maud is a UK production. It is a Film4 and BFI presentation of an Escape Plan Productions movie. Did you enjoy reading this article? Saint maurice 94410. Saint maud ending. Saint maud 2019. Saint maud wiki. Saint maud trailer reaction mashup. Morfydd Clark and Jennifer Ehle play nurse and patient in this claustrophobic psychological thriller from debutante director Rose Glass. Although this unsettling, contemporary-set British psychological drama is not a biopic about the real-life canonized St. Maud, a 10th century, excessively devout German queen, it's not hard to imagine why the lead character might have chosen to rechristen herself Maud after a trauma and subsequent conversion to Christianity. Like the disturbed palliative-care nurse we follow here, played with subtlety but also white-hot fervor by Morfydd Clark, the original St. Maud nursed the sick, and is now considered the patron saint of misbehaving children. That second bit seems apt here given that this striking and auspicious feature debut for writer-director Rose Glass explores the title character's obsessive need to control and maybe even convert her older, terminally ill patient, played by Jennifer Ehle. Redolent of a video-store shelf's worth of 1960s and '70s psychological horror thrillers — especially Repulsion, Performance, Taxi Driver and   maybe even  The Killing of Sister George in an oblique way, as well as recent pastiches of that same period ( The Duke of Burgundy) — Saint Maud seeds the clouds with an eclectic mix of influences, but it works, creating a film with its own strange weather. Stab-quick flashbacks of a gory scene in a hospital and dropped hints elsewhere suggest something bad happened to a patient in the backstory for which tightly clenched nurse Maud (Clark) may or may not be responsible. Now, instead of working in the national health service (where she was known as Kate before she changed her name) Maud is caring for terminally ill patients through a private agency in an unnamed seaside town. (The street scenes were shot in picturesque-seedy Scarborough, in the north of England. ) Her latest client is Amanda (Ehle) once a feted, avant-garde dancer in the Pina Bausch vein judging by a video clip we see at one point, who now has a terminal illness, probably cancer judging by the hair loss. But despite the fact that Maud wants to see the glamorous and witty Amanda as an injured broken bird to be cared for, Amanda is more like a spider nesting in her vast bed at the center of a dark house full of corners, menacingly patterned wallpaper the color of blood and secrets. Amanda is not evil or anything as simple and banal as that — just a very smart, complex woman bored with the last stages of her own mortality. In Maud, whom she describes at one point as the loneliest person she's ever met, she sees an amusing if broken plaything to fill up the time with in between visits from her young, sexily snarling lover, Carol (a vividly feral Lily Frazer. But Maud isn't as simple as she looks either, and the two begin a tango of seduction or destruction that leads to some very weird head games. Eventually, Maud's faith and perhaps her sanity starts to fray and crackle, and she swaps the starched uniform for sexier threads and a night of hedonism for herself. By the end, it's not entirely clear whether we have entered an ecstatic realm where the supernatural is possible or whether it's all in Maud's imagination, like the whirlpools she sees in glasses of beer and bathtub drains, redolent of Hitchcock's famous shower scene in Psycho. That ambiguity of genre, never entirely resolved, may frustrate some viewers, but it's clear Glass knows exactly what she's doing as she keeps adding thin layers of meaning and texture to the narrative. This smart, sinister work represents a very arresting calling card which augurs very well for her future prospects. On Tuesday, horror fans were treated to a first creepy trailer for Saint Maud, the debut film of writer-director Rose Glass that will have anyone reeling after only two minutes of footage. Fair warning — some of these first visuals are not for the faint of heart (or stomach. Morfydd Clark stars as Maud, a newly devout hospice nurse" sent to care for Amanda (Jennifer Ehle) — only, rather than providing care, it seems Maud will wind up being a nurse from hell. According to a synopsis provided by A24, Maud "becomes obsessed with saving her dying patient's soul — but sinister forces, and her own sinful past, threaten to put an end to her holy calling. It takes nothing special to mop up after the dying, but to save a soul — that's quite something. Maud states in voiceover before praying for Amanda's religious salvation. Soon after, Billie Eilish 's "all the good girls go to hell" creeps in, offering apt lyrics and suspenseful ambiance to the rest of the clip. Amanda clearly does not share Maud's religious beliefs or lifestyle, and it seems Maud is willing to go to demonic lengths to ensure Amanda bends to her will. There's violent biblical reenactments, levitation, and a clear need for an exorcist in this house. What more could you want out of a horror movie? Watch the trailer below. La Gomera - L'isola dei fischi Movie.
La Gomera - L'isola dei fischi Movie online.
First Hit: I was, and even a day later, confused by this story and film.
We're really introduced to Cristi (Vlad Ivanov) and Gilda (Catrinel Marlon) when Gilda walks up to Cristi and asks to speak with him in his apartment. Cristi whispers into her ear that he apartment is bugged, so she kisses him and tells him she'll play the part of a hooker, and they can whisper her request, which is to help her by getting a criminal, Zsolt, out of prison.
In an early scene, Cristi is on a ferry heading to an island where the ancient people use to communicate by whistling. Cristi is part of a plot working with other criminals to free Zsolt and to do this he has to learn the whistling language.
The language breaks vowels and consonants into seven whistling sounds. This lesson in this language was the most exciting part of the film. I was fascinated with Cristi learning how to whistle and wanted to practice, along with him, right in the theater.
As the film develops, some parts led me to believe that the story in the movie was pre-planned, and I missed something as the film progressed. At other times, I felt as though Cristi and Gilda were planning the ending along the way because they'd fallen for each other.
As an undercover detective, Cristi works for an unnamed woman place by Rodica Lazar, who is trying to play both ends of this story.
The result is a film that has the appearance of a storyline running at two different levels, but in the end, the person sitting next to me asked if he missed something about how the ending worked out, I said "I don't know, and I still don't.
Ivanov was quietly compelling as the detective who was also on the take. Marlon was excellent as the woman who seemed totally in control of story behind the plot. Lazar was strong as the head of the investigation and also susceptible to corruption. Corneliu Porumboiu wrote and directed this quizzical story that left me hanging.
Overall: I either missed a critical section of this Romanian film or the story was attempting to be too elusive.

Movies Review Review Interpretation of the news based on evidence, including data, as well as anticipating how events might unfold based on past events Luke Doyle, left, and Misha Handley in “The Song of Names. ” (Sabrina Lantos/Sony Pictures Classics) Rating: 1. 5 stars) “The Song of Names” opens with a disappearance. Or perhaps “no-show” is a better term, since the 1951 vanishing act that sets the stage for this mostly London-set mystery — which jumps backward to World War II and then forward to 1986 — is by a character we havent yet met, and wont, except in flashbacks, until very late in the film. When he finally does show up, in the guise of Clive Owen with a bad fake beard and a doleful expression, its a deflating, off-key letdown that spoils the serviceable setup that came before. The character in question is Dovidl Rapoport, who in 1951 is a 20-something, Polish-born violin prodigy (Jonah Hauer-King) about to deliver his debut performance on the international stage in front of a London audience. That doesnt happen, for reasons that are withheld — with a fair degree of suspense — for quite a while. Much of the film leapfrogs that inciting incident to A) fill in the backstory of how Dovi, as hes called, arrived at that fateful moment, and B) unravel the complex legacy of his strange and sudden retirement. Based on a 2001 book by music critic and cultural commentator Norman Lebrecht, who won the Whitbread Award for this debut novel of Jewish identity and faith, the story does an admirable job of telling two stories. The first charts Dovidls friendship with an English boy of the same age named Martin (Misha Handley) whose family takes in Dovi (Luke Doyle) after his Jewish parents bring him to London — in search of both musical training and an escape from the growing threat of the Nazis back in Warsaw. The second thread concerns the search by the now-grown Martin (Tim Roth) for his childhood friend, after certain clues materialize, 35 years after the non-concert, suggesting that Dovi may not have evaporated into thin air. Tim Roth plays a man searching for his childhood friend, a violin prodigy who mysteriously disappeared in 1951, in “The Song of Names. ” (Sabrina Lantos/Sony Pictures Classics) Its only when these two narratives — the first a compelling coming-of-age chronicle, and the second a more prosaic whodunit — converge that they squeeze the life out of the story in the middle. The better part of “Song” concerns Dovi and Martin from the age of 9 to their early 20s, when the infamous concert looms. As they endure the Blitz as children — the excitement of the bomb shelter, the otherworldly destruction thats almost a playground to them — the fate of Dovis family back home makes the stakes of war horrifyingly clear. This shakes Dovis faith, which he likens to a coat: one he can don — or remove — as he chooses. But the question of whether identity — ethnic, religious, artistic — is something that can be so lightly worn and so easily discarded is not well articulated in this film by François Girard. With his résumé (“The Red Violin” and other music documentaries) its no surprise that the scenes involving music are the most powerful. The first shows Dovi and another young violinist communicating wordlessly, with their instruments, as they wait out the bombs. And the second, which explains the films title, shows a rabbi singing a list of names of Jews killed in the Holocaust, memorized as a mournful “song. ” Despite these moments of beauty, “The Song of Names” just doesnt work as a whole. What may have been effective on the page — the novels rumination on the power and failure of art in the face of the Holocaust — gets drowned out by the melody of a conventionally plotted yet ultimately un-thrilling thriller. In the end this “Song” — whose payoff may leave you thinking, “Are you kidding me? ” — doesnt so much crescendo as collapse in on itself, an orchestral work that peters out in a trickle of silly, sour notes. William is always my love. Yes, this is a wonderful and memorable film. The director, Francois Girard, and, I suspect, the same Canadian production company were involved in the 1998 RED VIOLIN. Like that film it takes place over multiple time periods, in this film clearly stated to be 1951, 1986, and the earliest, unidentified time which can be inferred to be sometime between March and September 1939. The scene shifts back and forth a good deal and some critics found this confusing and destructive of continuity but I found no difficulty in following the story line. Memory is not linear and orderly but rather fragmented and out of sequence, particularly when dealing with highly charged emotionally traumatic experiences. This is an exceptionally intelligent screenplay where not everything has to be spelled out. It's true that a key plot point mystery is fairly predictable. Yet the story builds to a wrenching climax in a way you don't see every day in the movies.
Tim Roth plays well against type as a quiet, introspective Brit. The score composer, Howard Shore, was involved in composing the impressive music in the Lord of the Rings and does an award-deserving job here. I rate the film at 3.5/4 stars. Strongly recommended for everybody, especially any serious music student as well as anyone of Jewish background, particularly of GenX through to Millennials.

The song of names 2013. The song of names trailer. The Song of namespaces. In this highly entertaining and accomplished first novel by a well-known English journalist and music critic, two men who became friends as children in London during WWII are reunited after 40 years. In 1939, nine-year-old Martin Simmonds meets Dovidl Rapoport, a violin prodigy the same age. Martin's father is a music impresario, and when Dovidl is sent by his Polish parents to study in England, he offers the boy lodging in his own home. Dovidl and Martin quickly become best friends. Dovidl's parents perish in the Holocaust; then, in 1951, Dovidl—his name changed to the more palatable Eli—is about to embark on a career as a concert virtuoso when he disappears on the day of his debut. Martin becomes obsessed with his friend's disappearance, and after decades of searching finally finds him in a dreary town in the north of England. Lebrecht's deep knowledge of music, his insights and his verbal inventiveness enliven the book (describing two awkward professors, he says they "stand out like frayed cuffs on a funeral suit. However, the novel drags in the middle with the backstory of the two boys living through the blitz; this is material that has been presented elsewhere and in greater depth. Also, there's no real mystery in unraveling either the location or identity of Rapoport. Simmonds's supposedly epic quest ( I am consumed by thoughts of finding him" is over in less than two days, and it's a letdown for the reader not to be able to sift through tantalizing clues. These shortcomings aside, this is a confidently written and engaging first novel by a talented writer. Sometimes a life is shaped more by a missing presence than by its existing relationships and deeds. For most of his life Martin Simmonds has felt this way, ever since Dovidl, the young genius he describes as closer to him than a brother or a homoerotic partner, vanished. The two boys grew up together in wartime London, Dovidl a refugee from the soon-to-be-destroyed Warsaw ghetto. They shared adventure and even a sense of security during the Blitz, after Martins music-impresario father agreed to shelter and mentor the young genius. In late adolescence Dovidl subtly changed. As he prepared for his first public concert, he seemed as consumed by music as ever, but his mysterious late-evening ventures hinted at darker involvements. Dovidl was coping with being the only member of his family to survive, so Martin gave his friends other activities the benefit of the doubt. Then came the night of Dovidls much anticipated concert, but the young genius did not appear. Martins father was almost ruined, both financially and professionally. Martin graduated from Cambridge University, took over his fathers business, married, and had children. With a solid reputation in musicians circles, his seemed to be a moderately successful life. Yet always he felt a hollowness at its core. Forty years later, a chance event hints that Dovidl is still alive. Martins phlegmatic heart leaps up. He springs into uncharacteristic action. Soon the mystery is solved. Or is it? To the very end, both Martins and Dovidls stories pose questions for the reader. Did events really happen the way they tell them? Or is Dovidl a masterful escape artist, and Martins sense of loss just an excuse for underachievement? These questions give the book an unexpected depth. The settings it explores—wartime London, the world of classical musicians, an ultra-Orthodox Jewish community existing in conscious challenge to modern Jews—immerse readers in unfamiliar but fascinating subcultures. Norman Lebrecht has had a long career as a music critic and journalist. The Song of Names is his first novel, an impressive addition to his other achievements.

Not a fan of the new panoply of accents approach. Makes things confusing. Makes characters seem like they are from different countries when in fact it's just the actors. Inside the first 5 mins, david morse shows how much of a good actor he is. 👍. The Song of namespace. Apparently there were no women, all Jews are also men.
I normally like movies with music duels, and still falls very short. none of the characters make connection with the audience, they're motivation is useless and no real plot. This is all wrong. I shouldn't be up here. I should be back in school on the other side of the ocean. Yet you all come to us young people for hope. How dare you! Lol.

Last updated: January 21, 2019 at 1:19 am Pinyin, is the most common way to romanize Mandarin Chinese today. It is what is used in Mainland China. But there are other romanization systems as well, one of which is Wade-Giles. Wade-Giles was finished in 1892, while Pinyin was developed in the 1950s. There are still many books, peoples surnames (especially in Taiwan) city names, and universities that use the Wade-Giles system. This article include a conversion table from the Pinyin system of romanization, to the Wade-Giles, an older romanization system. Picture via Wikipedia A Few Quick Notes About Wade-Giles System of Romanization The proper use of Wade-Giles uses diacritics, including ê, û, and ü. But, if you know the Pinyin pronunciation, it shouldnt be a problem. In addition, proper Wade-Giles use uses apostrophes. Apostrophes are critical with the Wade-Giles system. For example, tao in Wade-Giles corresponds to dao in Pinyin, and tao in Wade-Giles corresponds to tao in Pinyin. Update 2019: Over the past two years, Netflix has begun aggressively cracking down on the use of VPNs and proxies to access its content. What nerve! While this has made watching Netflix in China a challenge at times, my family and I continue to connect on a daily basis. How? Ive been using ExpressVPN and Id like to explain to you our method to make it work. When moving or traveling to China, its hard to come to grips with the fact that popular sites such as Facebook, YouTube and Twitter are inaccessible. At times, it feels impossible to keep up with the constant changes and figure out which websites and apps are blocked in China! For some people though, the hardest part of being in China is giving up access to streaming entertainment like Netflix as well as other online content. Trust me when I say that Chinese TV just doesnt cut it when you want to sit back and unwind! Thankfully there are ways to get around this content restriction, so below Ill give you a quick tutorial on how to watch Netflix in China. *Note* Some of the links in this article are affiliate links, which means that at no extra cost to you, I may be compensated if you choose to use the services listed. Rest assured, I dont recommend anything I dont personally use, and Im grateful for your support to keep this website running! “Unblock Netflix” in China? Interestingly, the problem with watching Netflix in China isnt that China has blocked access to the website like they have to Facebook or Twitter (see How to access Facebook in China. Frankly, China could care less what movies you watch. The reality is that you dont need to unblock Netflix in China. I know what you might be thinking. “ Wait…if Netflix isnt blocked in China, why cant I access it? ” The problem youre running into is that Netflix is only licensed to stream its content in certain countries – and China is not one of them. If you try to access Netflix in China youre going to end up with a screen that looks like this: That sucks, especially if youve been a faithful subscriber like me who pays his monthly fees. But it doesnt matter if youre a paying customer or not. If you live or travel in China theres only one way to get around this geo-restriction: a VPN. Accessing Netflix in China Using a VPN Without getting too technical, a VPN (Virtual Private Network) is a simple way to fool Netflix or any other online streaming service (think Pandora, Hulu or others) into thinking that youre in a different location. In other words, I can be sitting here in my home in China but when Im connected to my ExpressVPN app, anybody who tracks my computer address will think Im in Los Angeles or New York. This ability to mask my location is one of the top reasons I spend money on a VPN. At first this may sound fishy or illegal (and some people wonder if using a VPN is illegal) but as long as youre a paying customer who is doing nothing more than consuming content (i. e. youre not trying to download it) you are perfectly within your rights. Since I use ExpressVPN, all I had to do after paying for the service was download and install the software (less than 10 minutes) and put in the license key they sent to my email. It was that simple. After that I just log in and tell the program where in the world I want to connect my computer. For the fastest speeds I usually always choose a west coast city like Los Angeles or San Francisco. You can see some of my many options below: Once I click “Connect” I am instantly able to stream Netflix to my computer here in China, enjoying some of my favorite TV shows without any problems, advertisements or interruptions. Is it worth the extra money just to watch Netflix?  Yes, it is for me and heres why: A VPN like ExpressVPN can give you access not only to Netflix, but also Hulu, Pandora, Youtube, Gmail, Facebook & Twitter – all of which are inaccessible here in China. A VPN offers added security from hackers if youre on Wi-fi here in China. A VPN allows me to access all of this content on my phone as well. Like I said before, there are plenty of great VPN services out there to try, but Im a big fan of ExpressVPN because they are easy to use, competitively priced, and they have a 30-day money-back guarantee if youre not satisfied. *Get 3 months FREE with  ExpressVPN on their annual plan! In Case You Need Another Reason If youre still not convinced that spending a little extra money for a VPN is worth it, consider these interesting facts: Dont Risk Viruses with Downloads China is notorious for pirated versions of movies that can be downloaded for free on the internet. I used to do this a lot via some torrent websites until the unthinkable happened: I got hit with a computer virus. I lost everything. Sure “free” sounds great, but when you consider that it often takes hours to download a movie and usually its not even good quality – its just not worth the risk of a virus like what I got. Viruses hidden in free downloads are one of the most often-used tricks in the book. And seriously, now that streaming entertainment is so affordable, why are you still downloading movies and TV shows via torrent? Access More Netflix Content Did you know that Netflix licenses different movies for different countries? Its true. Maybe that new movie you want to see isnt streaming in the US, but it is in Canada. By using a VPN like ExpressVPN, its possible to move locations all over the world, including Canada, the UK, and other countries where Netflix offerings are different. Browse through the various selections and youll likely find a movie youve never seen available on Netflix before, all thanks to the nifty little VPN you have. Concluding Thoughts on Netflix in China I used to spend an unbelievable amount of money on pirated DVDs in China every month and was always so disappointed when the quality was terrible. And it was always terrible. In the end, I threw all the DVDs away during one move back to the U. S. Now, Ive just reinvested that money into a very useful VPN service and Netflix. Ive watched hundreds of TV shows, I can budget better how much I spend on entertainment each month and the quality is always HD. Even better, Ive figured out a way to connect my Apple TV to a VPN so that I can watch on the big screen! If youre even remotely interested in streaming quality content while living or traveling in China, a VPN is a must-have. One of the best options out there is ExpressVPN  – read my full ExpressVPN review or check out the video review below to see for yourself why I like it: Get 3 Months Free with ExpressVPN! Have you used ExpressVPN before to stream content like Netflix? What was your experience? Let me know in the comment section below.

Hahaa, tää oli hyvä🙂 Kaikkihan sitä kysyttäessä on kilttejä🙊🙈 minä ainakin🙂. 😢 i've felt every word. Selkeesti suomalainen 😂. When I told people about my black dog, they didn't understand, and they made the black dog bigger. They said I was stupid, dumb because I had the black dog. I hope they will understand it one day. Even my parents didn't understand it, they still don't. I'm twelve years old and have a black dog for more than 3 years. I have a psychologist for almost a year, but I still didn't got any advice from them. I am taking no medicine, but I want to use it. The only thing I was/am using to be happy is food. But actually gets the black dog bigger, because I get heavier and heavier. First I want to get mentally strong, and then fysicly strong. I hope that the black dog dies, at least goes away. The only dog I love is my brown dog Luka, my best friend for life. Sorry if my grammar is wrong.

But cord cutting isn't for everyone, so "cord shaving" is starting to gain traction. Read More, watching Netflix on your bigscreen television set is the best way to reproduce that “cable TV” feeling. So, what options are available to you? Lets take a closer look, with five different ways to watch Netflix on your TV. 1. Use a Smart TV App The world of smart TV operating systems is a confusing one. Ever since Firefox TV met its demise in 2016, there are four major operating systems still in use. They are: Tizen, WebOS, Android TV, and Roku TV. However, despite the core operating systems being identical, no two companies smart TV interfaces look the same. Its like the early days of Android when every manufacturer was trying to customize the OS in their own way. As such, theres no simple way to explain how to get Netflix on your smart TV. The good news, though, is that all four of the major smart TV operating systems offer a Netflix app. Some televisions will even come with the app pre-installed and with a shortcut button hard-coded on the remote control. Install the app first if you dont have it, then fire the app up and enter your Netflix credentials. Youll be watching content in seconds. 2. Use a Chromecast The smart TV apps arent always the best solution. Depending on the quality of your televisions hardware, the app could be slow and buggy. So, what other options are out there? If you have a smartphone or tablet, you could buy a Chromecast dongle and cast Netflix directly from the mobile version of the app. To cast from Netflix to your Chromecast, open the Netflix app and tap on the cast icon in the upper right-hand corner. You will see a list of all your available devices. Tap on one to connect to it. The connection process will take a few seconds to complete. Note: Before you buy a Chromecast, check your TVs handbook. Many newer models have the technology already built in. Some set-top boxes, such as the Nvidia Shield, also offer it natively. 3. Use Miracast Miracast has been touted as a wireless alternative to HDMI cables Chromecast vs. Miracast: What's the Difference? Which One's Better? Want to stream video to your TV? You have two options: Chromecast or Miracast. But which is better for you? Read More. Weve previously discussed the technology in detail What Is Miracast? How to Use Miracast for Wireless Media Streaming HDMI may be the standard for connecting media devices, but it has a lot of downsides. Here's how to use Miracast instead. Read More. The Wi-Fi Alliance finalized the Miracast technology at CES 2013. Since then, its become available on all Windows machines running 8. 1 or later, and all Android-powered devices. On the receiver end, Roku devices and the Amazon Fire Stick are Miracast-enabled. Many smart TVs also offer the technology natively. To use Miracast on Android, go to Settings > Display > Cast Screen and tap on the receivers name. To use Miracast on Windows How to Project Windows 10 to TV With Miracast Windows 10 has built-in abilities to mirror its screen on your TV. Here's how to use Windows 10 with Miracast. Read More, go to Settings > Display. Miracast is not available on Apple devices. 4. Use an HDMI Cable Of course, you could try turning to a trusty HDMI cable. It might not be at the forefront of cord cutting technology any more, but it will always get the job done. You can pick up a functional six-foot-long HDMI cable relatively cheaply on Amazon. Setting up the HDMI cable is easy. Just connect one end to your TV and the other end to your computer. On your machine, load up the Netflix web app and find the content you want to watch. And on your TV, make sure you have selected the correct input channel. If youre lucky, your computer will recognize your TV and it will connect immediately. If it doesnt, the next step will vary depending on the operating system youre using. Windows To tell your Windows operating system to send your monitors display to your TV, follow the step-by-step instructions below: Right-click on the Start Menu. In the pop-up menu, select Mobility Center. Locate the box called External Display. Click on Connect Display. A menu will pop out of the right-hand side of the screen, choose Second Screen Only. Your Windows screen will go black, and both the video and audio will be playing on your TV. Note: Some manufacturers might have included a keyboard hotkey to switch to HDMI output. Mac If you own a Mac, follow these steps instead: Open the Apple menu. Click on System Preferences. Choose Displays. Hold down the Option key. Click on Detect Displays in the lower right-hand corner. If your computer still cant connect to the TV, you have a problem with either the TVs HDMI port, the Macs HDMI port, or the HDMI cable itself. Note: Many modern Apple laptops do not include an HDMI port, so you will need to buy an adapter first. Hopefully, you should now be seeing Netflix on your TV screen. You might notice the edges of the screen are missing. Dont worry, its called “Overscan” and is a common occurrence. Typically, the problem needs to be resolved in your televisions settings rather than on the operating system. 5. Use an Apple TV and Apple AirPlay Unsurprisingly, Apple is the only company which doesnt offer Miracast, Chromecast, or HDMI cable support. Instead, the company wants you to either buy an Apple TV and install that platforms version of the app, or use its proprietary AirPlay technology and cast the web app version of Netflix. AirPlay does work well, but given its proprietary status, support for the standard among smart TVs and set-top boxes is sorely lacking. How Do You Watch Netflix on Your TV? What does burden mean in gathering blue.

I just finished watching this film at the Traverse City Film Festival, I absolutely cannot rave enough about this film! the cinematography, the acting, the dialogue, everything is absolutely spot on! It is so intense that you, as the viewer, can feel the struggle that Mike Burden is going through and it just captures you and sucks you right in. especially if you know anything about the backstory on it and what really happened. To be honest this film emotionally drained me, I am literally exhausted from watching it. I would even have to go as far as to giving it 6 out of 5 stars, this is one of those do not miss movies.
